Beginning of February 2/1/12

You can feel the spring coming, warmer days have snuck in and here in the hot sauce fields we are hoping for an early spring! Seed catalogs have been rolling in and orders have been placed. I have extended the garden for a second time in 2 years to help me keep up with production quantities to fill everyone's orders. Here's hoping for a dry and warm Spring!

If you have picked up on any of our ground pepper dust at the IX center please let me know how you are using it. I have been using the Cayenne and Jalapeno dust in scrambled eggs, buttered macaroni and on some grilled pork steaks.

NEWS and EVENTS

 Here is some HOT news for 2012! We have signed up this year at the local Food Expo in Youngstown, Our Valley Cooks March 24th from 10 to 6 at Mr. Anthony's. Stop by and sample some Herman's with us. If your a real heat lover, I will be bringing a bottle of my Special Reserve Nitro 2.0 Thick and Chunky if anyone would like to sample a great pepper sauce that has tremendous flavor and more heat than the Original Nitro sauce.

    Right after the Food Expo we will be sampling Herman's once again at the 3rd annual The Big Tap In April 21st at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown. We are really excited to be part of this Craft Beer Festival! Stop in and say hello. We are looking forward to seeing everyone that has stopped by our booth at the last 2 shows and some new faces as this beer festival grows in popularity.

If you looking for the best fish dinner and your traveling through Warren Ohio, stop in at the Ohio Inn on North Park Ave.  They have the absolute best tasting fish dinner found anywhere, Herman's is there to try and buy! They have a bottle of Nitro 2.0 there to sample, be careful though! May I suggest 5 drops in the potato soup? Great fish and great hot sauce go hand in hand! The wife and I are normally there on Fridays getting a good sweat going with the Nitro on the table! You can ask either of the 2 George's about their Nitro 2.0 experience!

History:

    In 1999 I started experimenting with my own home grown vegetables in hopes of coming up with a hot sauce that had a great taste and lots of heat to go with it.  An all purpose hot sauce.  The first batch turned out really tasty and I started delivering samples around at work.  Everyone liked the sauce and wondered if I could get them a bottle.  Great! (I thought),  I did as many would do and mixed a little of this, a little of that and I never really did measure out any of the ingredients.

    Well through trial and error I had to re-invent "Herman's Hot Sauce".  I had labels printed and started selling bottles at work and to friends.  Everyone started telling me that I should start selling it in stores but I held back.  A few years had gone by and hundreds of bottles later, I finally gave in and figured why not give it a try.

    I have several customers now that will add Herman's to Frank's to increase the flavor and heat level.  I did not care for that info at first but then thought if they are adding Herman's to Frank's it is a compliment!!!!  NICE!

    You can also try "Herman's" at our local Ohio "Canfield Fair" on 10 of the DiRusso's Sausage stands.  I have been selling bottles from the sausage stands each year and have really been surprised at the pick up in sales.   Just, a few dashes of "Herman's" really wakes up a sausage sandwich!!!

   At the Canfield Fair, John Vlahos the "Gyro Man" purchases a few cases of "Herman's" and stated that he was going on vacation after the fair and he was going to take some bottles with him to Greece. That was great news and by far the furthest that my sauce has traveled.

    I still use about 90 % of home grown vegetables for the recipe and I enjoy getting everyone's taste buds going. Of all the bottles that I have sold the feed back always comes back the same, Plenty of Heat with a Great flavor." Most everyone that I have talked to has tried the store bought brands and the "Worlds Hottest" and has nothing good to say about the flavor. That's not the case here; "Herman's Hot Sauce" will not let you down. Try it on eggs, soups, dips, sauces, fish, and meat, use your imagination and enjoy! It is not just a HOT sauce but a Gourmet HOT Sauce.
